AU Students Mark World Literacy Day at Local School

The Unit of Community Service at Ajman University (AU) has celebrated the ‘World Literacy Day’ by visiting the Manar Al Iman Charity Private School, Al Jurf area.

Twenty AU male and female students from different colleges actively participated in the function and got themselves engaged with 210 students of six classes, primary level.

It was much fun engaging with this big number students; 35 students per class, according to volunteering students.

“We have had the young children engaged in an array of activities, including reading, writing, listening stories, painting, and games, following which they were appreciated with stationery kits.”

The function was meant to encourage the children on reading and writing, they pointed out. “We also wanted them to enjoy their study.”

Madiha Shahid, a volunteering student with the College of Humanities and Science, was over thrilled with her first of its kind experience. “I have had much fun, and shall never ever forget this thrilling experience.”

The event was very well organized and executed, she added.

“I really enjoyed volunteering and making an impact on the lives of kids,” she said, thanking the Unit of Community Service for organizing this trip.

The Unit of Community Service, in view of the students’ positive feedback, is to run more relevant functions this semester.
