Sociology Department at Ajman University Holds “University Experiences in Field Training” Workshop

The Department of Sociology and Social Work at Ajman University’s College of Humanities and Sciences organized a virtual workshop on enhancing the effectiveness of field training by universities, which was attended by representatives from Kind Saud University and the University of Jordan. Dr. Salah Gad, Head of the Department of Sociology and Ms. Sahar Zahran, Coordinator of the session attended the event, along with several students and faculty members.

The event included presentations by representatives of Ajman University (AU), King Saud University, and the University of Jordan about challenges associated with field training and ways to enhance field training for students in order to enhance their professional skills.

Several professors from AU’s Department of Sociology presented at the event, highlighting both the advantages and disadvantages of field training. Dr. Reham Abu Ghabush, Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at the University of Jordan, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Qahiz, Assistant Professor of Social Work in the Department of Social Studies at King Saud University, presented their experiences and challenges in their respective institutions. Dr. Reham briefly discussed the methods used to handle the difficulties presented by field training at the University of Jordan. 

The workshop concluded with a review of a set of best practices for field training, which instructors in all of the participating universities could use to develop course objectives and outcomes, and support students’ upskilling in order to meet the rigorous demands of the job market.
