Following Ajman University’s transformation into a non-profit institution, the role of sustainable fundraising has become more vital than ever in supporting its academic mission. In this context, the College of Mass Communication organized a focused awareness seminar to engage its faculty members in building a culture of giving that fuels educational excellence, student opportunity, and societal impact.
The session, led by Dr. Hossam Salama, Dean of the College, positioned fundraising not as a transactional process but as a transformational tool that fuels innovation, elevates the student experience, and expands the University’s societal impact. Dr. Salama emphasized that faculty members, through their daily interactions with students and their influence within academic and community circles, are uniquely positioned to amplify awareness and cultivate support for the University’s mission.
“Our faculty are not only educators; they are ambassadors of purpose,” Dr. Salama noted. “Their voice is instrumental in shaping a culture where giving is seen as a shared responsibility and a pathway to lasting change.”
The seminar also featured Mr. Ahmed Halabi, Acting Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs, who presented the University’s overarching fundraising framework and highlighted several high-impact initiatives currently underway. He outlined opportunities for the College to integrate fundraising themes into co-curricular programming, student-led projects, and faculty-led outreach, paving the way for deeper engagement with both individual donors and institutional partners.
Mr. Halabi underscored the importance of cross-functional collaboration between academic units and advancement teams to ensure alignment, continuity, and measurable outcomes. He also welcomed suggestions from faculty members and responded to their inquiries on best practices for initiating and sustaining fundraising conversations within academic contexts.
The event sparked strong interest among attendees, many of whom expressed their readiness to support future efforts through personal participation, student mentoring, and the design of initiatives that reflect the College’s values and strengths.
This seminar marks an important step in activating internal champions for fundraising, aligning the College’s academic mission with the University’s long-term sustainability goals. By equipping faculty with the knowledge and tools to engage meaningfully in this space, the College of Mass Communication is reaffirming its commitment to shaping a future where generosity, purpose, and education go hand in hand.
