His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ajman Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council, inaugurated on Wednesday 27 November Ajman University of Science and Technology’s celebrations to mark the 41st anniversary of the UAE. The celebrations, which took place at AUST’s Ajman Campus, comprised a variety of activities presented by a host of primary, secondary and college students. Attending the events were Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, Mr. Thamer Saeed Salman, AUST Vice President, and a number of senior officials, college deans, faculty members and students.
Amidst cheers of huge crowds and tunes of national anthems and patriotic songs played by the military band, Ajman Crown Prince cut the ribbon to formally declare the celebrations open. He then stopped at various student activities and heritage exhibitions which displayed historical items such as traditional weapons, copper, pottery and spinning tools.
As an expression of patriotism and loyalty, His Highness planted a “union tree” at the entrance of Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibitions, in line with the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
HH Sheikh Ammar Al Nuaimi also inscribed and signed a congratulation note to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in the Loyalty Charter which will be submitted to His Highness on this occasion, praising his great achievements and contributions in caring for the wellbeing of all UAE citizens and residents. The attendees, in turn, rushed to note down their sincere feelings to the UAE President through divers electronic devices provided by the Loyalty Charter Commission.
His Highness toured the student activities that took place in different sites of the campus, including some exciting artistic and cultural shows which reflect the originality of the Emirati heritage and national identity and the nobleness of the values and traditions the people of UAE live by.
From his part, Mr. Thamer Saeed Salman, AUST Vice President, said that “the United Arab Emirates has made great strides in all fields of life through a journey of 41 years of achievements, particularly in the area of higher education and scientific research. As schools and universities have developed both quantitatively and qualitatively thanks to the relentless efforts and wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and their brethren Members of the UAE Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates.”
Mr. Salman extended AUST’s gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, for joining the students and sharing their joy as they celebrate the 41st UAE National Day. “This is best proof of the high attention our leadership pays to improving education as it insistently encourages and supports higher education institutions, students and faculty to continue raising the bar of achievements in all areas,” He said.
The AUST Vice President stressed that “the celebration of the university students and community members on this very special occasion is an expression of the sincere love and loyalty we all have for this generous country and its sound leadership.”
